“A young carer is someone aged 25 and under who cares for a friend or family member who, due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction, cannot cope without their support. Older young carers are also known as young adult carers and they may have different support needs to younger carers.”

It is important for young carers to be able to access projects for professional guidance, to connect them with other young carers, and to provide them with breaks from their caring role.
CHARMS has been designed to keep records of young carers and their family members in one, easily accessible, secure place. Young carers can keep in touch with their project using the dedicated CHARMS Young Person application, designed for every type of internet ready device – laptop, tablet, or mobile phone.
The CHARMS Young Person Application has been designed by care experienced young people and enables young carers to find out what is happening with their project and to give their own feedback. When they do, the project is alerted to their input.
CHARMS offers the safest set of communication tools for young carers, family members and people who support them.
